Information Extraction Concept

Information extraction (IE) is an activity within natural language processing whose goal is to automatically extract structured information from unstructured documents and text. This structure is most often provided as metadata or inline markup in the original source.

IE can be used to extract concepts, relationships, named entities, events, or other specific categories of structure.
